What materials are used in Oowee Products?
We use full-grain cowhide leather for our products. Our Material is made to our specifications in US Leather Tanneries. We primarily use chrome-tanned leather with a vegetable-retain. Full-grain leather is a type of high-quality leather made from the top layer of cowhide.
Why does it matter that the leather Tannery is based in the USA?
We use U.S. tanneries because companies operating in the USA must follow U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA ) rules and regulations, including wastewater standards. We use Chrome tanner and Veg-tanned leather depending the needs of the finished product. The term "Genuine Leather" does not mean anything while Top Grain Leather means that the top layer of the material has been sanded off and a faux finish has been applied.
What is Full-Gain Leather?
Full-grain leather is the top layer of an animal hide that has not been sanded or buffed to remove imperfections, resulting in its natural grain and texture. It's considered the highest quality and most expensive leather available and is prized for its distinctive look and patina that develops over time. Full-grain leather is also stronger, more robust, and more breathable than other types of leather because it comes from the top layer of the hide
Hardware
Depending on the project, we use brass, coated brass, steel, nickel, and zinc hardware. Unfortunately, we have found that it is very hard or impossible to get American-made hardware for our products. The hardware we need is not made in the USA and we have not found a reliable manufacturer within the US.
Imprint Options
Debossed
This is our highest quality imprint option we offer to add your custom logo to all bulk orders placed for 24 or more items. We make a custom metal die of your logo and permanently brand or burn your logo into the leather with heat and pressure. This process creates a high-quality, long-lasting image that looks great. Our debossed logos do not look the same as the laser-engraved logos. The debossed logos are lighter in color and do not look as dark black in color as our laser-engraved logos. Please keep this in mind if you are ordering a sample and then come back to order a bulk order. Feel free to email or call us with questions about the imprint process best for your custom project.
Laser Engraved
We will laser engrave your logo onto the products on all orders of 23 items or less or for orders that need a custom font or font size. Using light, the laser burns the logo, art, or text into the leather and will leave a permanent black imprint.
Type Setting
We offer *FREE* initials or monogramming on all of our products
Our custom initials are added using a metal-type set, just like the old letterpress days of the past. The initials are a set font and size. We offer ¼ inch type, ¾-inch type, and 1-inch type and will use the appropriate font size depending on the item you are ordering.
* We are not able to offer custom fonts with this option
